The Jonai District Tribal Association has expressed strong opposition to the government's approval of houses for illegal encroachers on railway land. They have demanded that the Railway Department take immediate action to evict the encroachers.
In Jonai, over 100 families, who are allegedly illegally occupying railway land in wards 5, 6, and 9 of the Jonai Gaon Panchayat under the Murkongselek Tribal Development Block, have received approval for government houses under the Awas Yojana scheme. This has sparked intense reactions from the Jonai District Tribal Association.
A few days ago, members of the association visited the site and expressed their strong objections. They questioned how these illegal encroachers managed to secure government-approved houses and permission to build on railway land. They also criticized the local panchayat officials for allegedly facilitating this illegal activity and demanded that public funds should not be wasted in this manner.
Furthermore, the association called for the immediate eviction of the families illegally occupying the railway land. They also demanded that the local MLA, MP, and district administration take swift action to investigate and arrest the panchayat officials responsible for misusing public funds by approving these construct
ions.
