The Gorkha community's Dasei Ko Tika ritual begins on Saturday.

Alongside the Navaratri festival, the Gorkha community's Dasei festival has already started. On Saturday, after the worship and offerings on Vijaya Dashami, the immersion of Goddess Durga's idol takes place. From the day of Vijaya Dashami, in harmony with the Dasei festival, the Gorkha community observes the Dasei Ko Tika ritual.

In tandem with the rest of the state, the Gorkha community of Jonai has also begun celebrating Dasei Ko Tika from Saturday, a ritual marked by the placing of colorful rice grains on the forehead. The elders of the community bless the younger ones by applying Dasei Ko Tika—the colorful rice grains—on their foreheads. This ritual is performed in every household of the Gorkha community.

This tradition continues for five days until the next full moon. During these five days, the younger members of the Gorkha community visit the elders’ houses, receive the blessing of Goddess Durga in the form of Dasei Ko Tika, and wear the colorful rice grains on their foreheads as a sign of the blessing.
